My topic I have chosen is to do with medicine and how healthcare is affected by factors outside medicine itself, such as social, political and economic factors.
I will be applying to do medicine at university, however the project I am doing doesn't look at the science behind medicine, rather it looks at the availability of healthcare and the ethical implications of the disparity of the provisions between different communities.
This inspiration for this chosen topic stems from the conditions I witnessed and my experiences through my work experience placement in a paediatric hospital in India which has really motivated me to find out more about the reasons as to why things happened as the did and how problems could be minimized in such small communities and developing countries.
Since this post, looking at all the research I have done and the new sources I have looked at, I have changed the direction of my project.
ReplyDeleteNow, I am looking into writing about how the structure of the healthcare system in India can be improved and how simple techniques could be implemented to solve some major problems. I am going to do Medicine at university, however I am not going to focus on the science involved in medicine which is taught at university, as I have said before, but other factors such as social and economic factors that affect the availability of healthcare. Also how different methods could alleviate current problems. This is in reflection to what I saw through my work experience placement in India and also through talking to healthcare professionals both in India and here in the UK.
Especially after looking at the talk by Myshkin Ingawale on TED website, I have been majorly inspired to write a report style piece to the government or a community governing body in India, summarizing my experiences at my work experience placement, analyzing these and facts and figures and opinions I have found via other sources (through research, interviews etc.)
I just started reading your blog. Sounds interesting !!
